DualNAVI supports highly interactive
information retrieval with dual-view interface
--- tightly coupled views of title-list(left) and
topic-word-graph(right).
(See more on the
concept of DualNAVI
and how
topic-word-graphs are generated.)
Please try basic use of this interface following the instructions
shown below the interface.
Select items, ---> then relevant topic-words are marked.
[illustration]
Select some items in the title list (left window) by clicking the small squares.
Then the squares of the selected items turn red, and
topic words contained in one of these selected items are marked
(surrounded by red borders).
Use Clear button below the title list for clearing the selections.
Select topic-words, ---> then relevant items are marked.
[illustration]
Select some topic words by clicking topic-words with shift key.
Then the selected topic-words turn orange, and
items (titles) containing these selected topic-words are marked
with red check marks.
The thickness of each check mark show how many kinds of topic words are
included in each item.
If you do not find check marks, use the vertical scroll bar to find them.
If you click topic-words without shift key, then the previously selected
topic words return un-selected.
You can select multiple topic-words by designating a rectangular region
by mouse-dragging starting from a background (white) point.
Gather
button gathers marked items to the top of the title list
in the order of their thickness, that is to say, in the order of
relevance to the selected topic words.

Restoration of original order of search results.
When no topic words are selected (therefore no articles are marked),
Gather button restore the original order of search results.
So, the original order can be restored anytime by clearing
the selection of topic words and by clicking Gather button.
Propagate
button (under the topic-word graph) extends the selection
of topic-words in a manner that those topic words linked to already
selected topic-words are also selected.
[illustration]
When you have selected only a small number of topic-words
(such as only one), doing Propagate before Gathering
is effective because such items related not only to the directly
selected words but also to their neighboring words get
thicker check marks.
[2] Document Association --- feedback with selected articles ---
[illustration]
Select articles of your interest by clicking their small squares.
Assoc button (left-bottom corner) executes
associative search
(similarity-based search) using the selected items as search keys,
and returns search results in the order of relevance to the selected items.
[3] Topic-Word Association --- feedback with selected topic-words ---
